• As new magazines bounce on and off the scene, full-grown with mock up ease or fresh with adolescent promise and then fade away, CELEBRITY SOCIETY (CS) has always remained unique as a conversational piece de résistance. Over the years, our magazine has been able to evolve with the times, yet somehow remain steadfast in its goal—in celebrating the culture of giving.

  • When I first came to Hollywood decades ago, I had no idea I would ever be called a “social entrepreneur” or that I would have the opportunity to use the power of celebrities to inspire and encourage others to make a difference in their own lives and in the world.

  • When I received the invitation to write for the 40th anniversary issue of CELEBRITY SOCIETY, I thought the editor must be mistaken.
My memories of a lovely couple, Chevy and Ed Foster, starting a magazine that would celebrate charity events in Beverly Hills and surrounding areas couldn’t have been from four decades ago.  After all, I’m only…Well, I guess it was 40 years ago.

  • The Beverly Hilton was the site of the 20th anniversary ABCs Gala celebration. Gloria Gebbia, president of the ABCs, thanked close to 600 guests who attended for their generous support to eradicate these diseases. The energy was fabulous thanks to the entertainment of KC and the Sunshine Band.

  • Dear Readers, having crossed another bridge between the past and the future, we welcome you to the 40th Anniversary of CELEBRITY SOCIETY Magazine. In this retrospective issue, we hope you will enjoy some of the memorable people, pleasures, and events we have shared throughout the years.

  • Forty years ago, then a moderately paid young entertainment journalist, I was among a selected group of mostly affluent members of Los Angeles who received a modestly printed brochure developed by the late Chevy Foster and her husband,Dr. Ed FosterCELEBRITY SOCIETY was born and quickly became the beacon of social activities throughout our community.

  • Ed and Chevy Foster arrived at Rudy Vallee’s and my home, “Silver Tip” in the Hollywood Hills, asking for our input, opinion, and information, apropos to launching a New Magazine. This magazine would present and cover celebrity and social events: Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and the Los Angeles Area. The magazine would be called … “CELEBRITY SOCIETY” Magazine.

  •     40 years on?  No, tell me that’s not true.  I do remember reading this wonderful magazine in its various formats when it was published by the Fosters, Chevy and Ed -- and oh, how they loved their magazine.  It was their little baby.  They loved going to all the social and Hollywood events.  Chevy with her pretty red hair and Ed always dapper.

  • Longtime John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary supporter and past president Ina Lewis received the “Angel Award” and The Wellness Community–West Los Angeles was the recipient of the “Public Service Award” at John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary’s (JWCIA) Annual Membership Luncheon and Holiday Boutique, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

  • Nicole Sherwin presented the inaugural invitation-only, carbon neutral GREEN LOUNGE – eco luxury experience at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel featuring a Wellness Symposium with Alicia Silverstone, Debbie Levin, Jason Nelson, Christine Devine and Darren Moore.
