World famous photographers
Marcus Klinko & Indrani have teamed up with Iman to bring the
“Mother Africa” campaign alive, featuring Iman in the first set of released shots, scheduled to appear this spring and extend into summer. "We've been tremendous fans of Keep a Child Alive for years," said
Markus & Indrani. "When we heard about the 'Mother Africa' Campaign we jumped at the opportunity to do our part to help this important cause." Through intimate, powerful photo vignettes, the campaign will highlight that Mother Africa needs Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, Wives, Husbands, Sons, Daughters and Friends. Participants will include a host of luminaries such as
KCA Co-Founder
Alicia Keys, Uma Thurman, Iman and
Padma Lakshmi. As a Global Ambassador and conceptual force behind the
“I Am Africa” campaign, Iman is fitting as the figurehead if the
“Mother Africa” campaign. She is photographed wearing the
“Key to Life,” a diamond and white gold pendant made by
Alexander Amousu in London especially for
KCA. Proceeds from each Key sold provide 18 patients with HIV/AIDS care for one year in a
KCA treatment center in Africa. Shots from the
“Mother Africa” campaign are scheduled to begin appearing in magazines this spring and summer.
If the people of Africa - and indeed the people of the world - need anything today, it is a figure of hope and commitment to a better day. The varied layers of Iman - daughter of a diplomat, political refugee, supermodel, business executive and international philanthropist - collectively form a woman who stands tall as a testament to believing in a new day. Constantly surging ahead, while never losing sight of her roots, Iman endures as an exemplar of the irrepressible power of human passion and reinvention.
